I first encountered Mitch Trace, professional hearing aid specialist and owner of Hear Lancaster, six years ago, when I initially purchased hearing aids (long overdue – I should have done it years ago). At that time, I was impressed with his knowledge and expertise, and he put me into a set of hearing aids that have served me well since. Fast forward to a week ago and my regular 6 month cleaning and preventative service appointment. I mentioned to Mitch that I was considering a new set of hearing aids, motivated primarily by the awareness that there have been significant improvements in hearing aid technology over the past six years. I also suggested that I was considering a behind-the-ear version as opposed to the in-ear set that I already had. After doing an updated hearing exam, Mitch immediately recommended a particular brand, one that he felt would be particularly suited to my level of still active lifestyle, and offered me a set of them to demo for a week. So glad I did, as I was able to test them in a number of situations. Turned out, Mitch’s recommendation was spot on. As of today, 8 days later, I am the proud owner of a brand new set of current technology hearing aids (and I still have my old ones as backup). I couldn’t be happier. People in my life have gotten annoyed when I’d ask them to repeat themselves and after the third time, they’d say “never mind.” That made me feel bad about myself and I was embarrassed about my inability to hear what they were saying. So after years of struggling with my hearing, I finally decided to do something about it. I made an appointment with Mitch at Hear Lancaster, located in the lower level of the Village Center on the Brethren Village campus (Lititz Pike). Mitch uses a state of the art system from Italy for hearing tests! He explained the process as we went along and answered any questions I had. While Mitch was conducting my hearing test, his assistant Jenny checked on my insurance coverage. At the conclusion of my hearing test, Mitch explained the results and recommended a hearing aid that would work best for me and my lifestyle. He downloaded the app on on my phone and set everything up for me. It was literally easy peasy! I went from my appointment with Mitch to a meeting in a noisy coffee shop wearing my loaner hearing aids. After the meeting, I texted Mitch and said, “omg I could hear EVERY WORD spoken in my meeting!” Later that night, my dog was sitting on my lap and I could hear him breathing! The aids are bluetooth-enabled, which means my phone calls come through the aids and I can hear everything so much better than before. The technology is mind boggling! Just a note: For seniors who can’t make it to his location at Brethren Village, Mitch makes house calls! As a senior-focused service provider myself who also makes house calls, I very much appreciate this accommodation!! I was on the fence for a very long time about getting hearing aids but not anymore. If you know someone struggling with their hearing, you definitely need to talk to Mitch or Jenny at Hear Lancaster!

My husband Richard E.Gingrich and I live at Brethren Village. Richard was having difficulty hearing because his aids , purchased front another facility did not stay in his ears , because they didn’t fit his ear canal. We scheduled an appointment with Mitch Trace in the Village Center, Richard was given a hearing test, and fitted , by an impression being taken , we received the new aids and Richard was able to hear immediately . I am so pleased that I don’t have to scream when I’m talking to him, and his care givers at BV can communicate with him now! Mitch is wonderful to work with and he answers my questions and makes sure I know how to use my hearing aids. He has loaner aids to test which aid is best for you. He took time with me to solve my hearing problems. As an interpreter for the Deaf/Hard of hearing and DeafBlind, I have to hear clearly to be able to interpret the language correctly. Mitch did just that! He also checks in to see how I am doing! Give him a call! For elderly people who can’t get out, he will make house calls.
